About Us

If 6 Was 9 Sound Design was created out of a desire to create the work environment we all wanted, and because none of us could come up with a compelling reason not to. Jules and Paul had just completed their BAs, their enthusiasm infected Ruben, who had been ploughing a lone furrow for a while, Sam was roped in for some youthful vigor and we were off.

Our guiding principal is to do work that interests us. Like most people if we care about a project we work harder, have more fun and the end product is better. We’re all allergic to drudgery, Jules even has a doctor’s note to prove it and we all have our own projects to work on should we find some free time. We’ve given up on the idea of a Soho facility and fancy cars (half of us would have to learn to drive first), but we do care about the work we do.

We’re pretty straightforward and direct people. We won’t take on a project if there’s nothing we can bring to it. We won’t guild your lilies or polish your turds, but if we can offer you something we will do it well.
